I grew up in Milwaukee, WI. I graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in Arts Education. Fun fact about me is I have an identical twin sister! I enjoy
puzzles, crocheting, baking, and watching all our WI sports teams
Educational Philosophy I believe that focusing on social justice is crucial. Most are taught to treat others with respect, and as an educator that is a core value in my classroom. Also, UWM Art Education students are taught that engaging social issues through looking at contemporary art is important. I agree! Therefore, the work of contemporary artists will be another core component of my teaching. Engaging with contemporary art is just as important as looking at and discussing art that was made by artists who were working before 1900 because issues are addressed in contemporary art that have only been tackled recently. Some of the art projects or ideas shared in the classroom might come from community members who are willing to participate in what is being achieved in the classroom.
Why do you teach at Blessed Sacrament? I enjoy sharing my love of art with our students. I like the small community feeling that we have.
