Lector: A lector proclaims the Word of God during Mass. Lectors are required to be present fifteen minutes prior to Mass, and are responsible in finding their own substitutes. There are no regularly scheduled meetings. However, there are rehearsals for special liturgies. Adults and high school students who have been Confirmed are invited to participate in this ministry. Good public speaking voice and ability to read well in public. Appropriate dress is required. Commitment: annual training, lector once every six weeks at Mass of choice, as well as feasts and the celebration of some sacraments.
Eucharistic Minister: Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist distribute the Body and Blood of Christ at Communion during Mass. Anyone who is of high school age or older, has been Confirmed and a member of the community in good standing with the Church are welcome to serve. Appropriate dress is required. Commitment: initial training at the Mass of your choice, feast days and the celebration of some sacraments.
Acolyte/Server: Assist the Priest and Deacon in providing the worshippers with a meaningful liturgical experience. Servers are required to be present fifteen minutes before Mass. Open to all youth, male and female; 3rd grade and older and adults. This ministry includes serving at liturgies for weekend and weekday Masses, Holy Days, Stations of the Cross, evening prayer, benedictions, and funerals. Appropriate dress is required. Commitment: Adult servers: initial training and serve at Mass twice a month. Children: Initial training.
Minister of Hospitality (Usher): Consists of men, women, and youth willing to welcome and greet parishioners, assist worshippers in need, and help prepare worship space for the next service. Required to be present 30 minutes prior to Mass. Ministers must get their own substitutes if they cannot minister when scheduled. Training and formation required. Willing to provide a warm and welcoming environment as parishioners gather for worship. Appropriate dress is required. Ministers may be required to assist worshippers in wheelchairs and must be willing to assist in case of medical emergency. CPR training is offered. Commitment: initial training at the Mass of your choice, including feast days and the celebration of some sacraments.
Minister of Hospitality (Greeter): Be present at the church entrances a half hour before weekend Masses to warmly welcome parishioners. Be present again at the end of Mass to bid people a good day.
Art & Environment (Decoration) Ministry: Members plan and execute the beautification of the liturgical space during various seasons of the church year. Commitment: attend meetings as required, along with scheduled blocks of time to assemble and dismantle decorations (varies according to the season).
Altar Guild: The guild is tasked with laundering and ironing sanctuary lines, polish brass items, and other tasks which are critical to the running of the sacristy and the celebration of the Mass. Commitment: varies according to tasks to be accomplished in different time frames.
