Please consider joining the Blessed Sacrament’s newly formed Prayer Shawl Committee - a ministry having no group meetings! This is for parishioners who 1) enjoy knitting, crocheting, sewing or quilting, 2) would be willing to create a shawl large enough (i.e. chain crochet 60 stitches and 60 rows, or approx. 18” x 40”) to cover the head, neck and shoulders of child or adult, and 3) to pray for the recipient while they create it. Through the prayer, the shawls become a symbol of God’s love comforting a person in times of need, or in celebration for a whole range of events in the recipient’s life.
Directions for knitting and crocheting are available. If you have needles and/or crochet hooks, but a limited supply of yarn, one parishioner has given a generous yarn supply for others to use. Sample prayers are also available.
